Suspension Of Harrah's Horse Racing Dates Lifted

By Tony Romeo

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - The state Harness Racing Commission has lifted its suspension of racing dates at Harrah's track in Chester.

The state Harness Racing Commission in January suspended upcoming racing dates at Harrah's, whose casino license is linked to its operation of a horse racing facility.

Samantha Krepps, spokeswoman for state regulators, says the suspension was lifted after Harrah's finally give the Harness Racing Commission information it was seeking, including information about issues related to Harrah's track, the paddock, and promotion of racing:

"We don't do the maintenance of all the tracks. And that's what the commissioners wanted to know…and we weren't getting that information. So now that they gave us that information – and as you see, it was simple information – it was lifted."

Krepps says, however, the scheduled start of racing at Harrah's later this month will be delayed because of continuing bad winter weather.
