Local Museum To Honor Outstanding Teachers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An old city museum is looking for outstanding teachers to honor and nominations are due in less than two weeks.
It's the eighth year The National Liberty Museum, near 3rd and Chestnut Streets, is honoring educators with its "Teacher As Hero" awards.
Kevin Orangers, the VP of Programming, says, "These are teachers that recognize what they can do with their liberties. What they can do with their time and their talents and their resources that change education in their school but also make their students better people."
About 20 teachers will be selected. Their pictures and stories will be incorporated into a museum exhibit.
"When we talk about liberty, we talk about examples of people again that recognize liberty is an idea, but it's an idea that we have to activate, we have to participate in and we ultimately, in doing that, end up in protecting it and preserving it."
