Man Shot In Face Following Argument In Sharon Hill

By Jenn Bernstein

SHARON HILL, Pa. (CBS) -- Sharon Hill Police are searching for a gunman who shot a 39-year-old man inside a home on Foster Avenue.

Police received a call about the shooting around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When medics arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his face.

Police say he was alert and conscious when medics rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he underwent surgery.

His condition is not known at this time, although police believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say the victim opened the front door after someone knocked.

"He had some kind of verbal confrontation with another individual, from what we are understanding," said Sharon Hill Police Chief Bob Tinsley. "The confrontation might have gotten a little argumentative and then shortly after that, the victim was shot by the subject."

Chief Tinsley doesn't know if the victim knew the shooter, but say it's a good possibility.

At this hour, detectives are looking for leads and trying to figure out who fired the gun.

"A couple witnesses we have said they saw two or three individuals coming down the street and leaving the area," said Chief Tinsley.

Police do not have descriptions of those individuals.
