New Slogan Aims To Draw Business, Tourists To Philadelphia

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new slogan is emerging in the Greater Philadelphia landscape - it's "P-H-L: Here for the Making."

The slogan, designed to push not only tourism, but conventions and business opportunities, is backed by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Convention & Visitors Bureau and other partners.

Rob Wunderling, president and CEO of the chamber, says it sparks a new energy at the grass-roots level.

"We really believe that the citizens in the greater Philadelphia region want to make something happen here," he says. "They want to make it here. It can be made here."

Wunderling says 42 percent of the leads for companies considering coming to the Philadelphia region come from individual Philadelphians who reside here.

"So we want everybody to sing from the same page," he says, "and that is truly we are here for the making."

Meryl Levitz of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, which recently enhanced it's XOXO With Love campaign, says there's plenty of room for the campaign.

"For a city to not only survive but thrive, you need the convention market, you need the business/group market and you need the leisure market," Levitz says. "And so all of these things can pull together."

Levitz says her group will stay with what works and continue its focus on the tourism market.
