Residents In South Jersey Dealing With One-Two Punch Of Snow

By Cleve Bryan

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS)--With lapping waves and snow covered dunes to look at walking the boardwalk in subfreezing temperatures, Wednesday didn't bother some people.

Betsy Dempsey, who is visiting Atlantic City says, "Not too many people walking around but it's really a beautiful day."

The shore got a one-two combo of cold and snow with some residents waking up to half  foot of fresh powder that left roads to plow and driveways to shovel.

While her neighbor's grandkids were busy shoveling in Somers Point, Ann Mawhinney spent her morning checking on elderly friends.

"I call her, we all check on each other"

And in Linwood, kids spent the day sledding the day away. While South Jersey is not known for huge sledding hills, Kassidy and Kaela Catino say the conditions were just right.

"Snowy, cold, icy, but fun? Yeah!"

Another snow day off from school means another make up day in the summer, but those are concerns for another day.

Becca Jackson of Linwood says, "We're still having fun, we still like the snow and we're still loving it cause we don't get many winters around here where we get a lot of snow like this."
