Weekend Box Office Report: 'Ride Along' Rides To The Top

By Bill Wine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The box office leader remained the same at multiplexes over the weekend.

"Ride Along" rode along and alone at the top of the box office charts for a second straight first-place finish.

The action comedy with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, which will have at least one sequel, earned an estimated additional $21-million on its second weekend of release.

Another holdover, "Lone Survivor," the military bio drama with Mark Wahlberg, finished second with over $12-million.

Third place belonged to the animated holdover, "The Nut Job," with $12-million.

And "Frozen" and "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" rounded out the top five with $9-million each.

"I, Frankenstein," the action fantasy with Aaron Eckhart was the only debuting feature to crack the top ten. It took in $8-million, good for sixth place.

Overall, the modest industry-wide totals were on a par with those of last year.
