1 Person Injured In Trench Collapse In Delaware

GWINHURST, Del. (CBS) – Paramedics responded to the unit block of West Delaware Avenue for a report of a trench collapse with a worker trapped Monday afternoon.

Crews found that a 40-year-old male had been working in a trench next to a house when dirt from the trench wall collapsed onto him.

He was trapped in the dirt at knee-level against the foundation of the house for about an hour and fifteen minutes before rescue personnel were able to extricate him.

The victim suffered leg injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police helicopter.

He is listed in stable condition.
