Husband, Wife Dead In Radnor Murder-Suicide

By Matt Rivers

RADNOR, Pa. (CBS) - Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occured on the Main Line Sunday afternoon. A husband and wife were found dead at their home in Radnor, Delaware County.

The incident began around 2 p.m. at the couple's home on the 300 block of Wayne Avenue.

According to authorities, the couple was arguing in the guest house behind their main home and at some point the man shot his wife. He then called police himself, but when they arrived, the man had taken his own life.

"A tragic murder-suicide involving a husband and wife," Police Superintendent Bill Colarulo says. "It just goes to show you emotional problems, family problems -- it reach's across the border and can affect anyone."

Making matters much worse, the couple had three children. Their 17 and 15-year-old daughters were not home at the time of the shooting. but their eight-year-old son was. Police say, thankfully, he wasn't in the guest house when the crime was committed.

"Our main concern, obviously, is welfare of the children, grief counseling, and protective custody, and we're worried about their well-being," says Colarulo.

The children are staying close by in the meantime with a neighbor and moving forward, their future is very much in limbo.

"They not only lose their mom, but they lose their dad and they're three children that need their parents and now who knows what tomorrow holds for them," Colarulo says.

An investigation is ongoing.
