Profanity-spewing Pa. Police Chief Sues Borough Over Hearing Location
POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania police chief is suing the borough that wants to fire him over his profanity-laced Internet videos.
Suspended Gilberton Chief Mark Kessler is trying to block the town from holding a hearing on his termination in Scranton, some 60 miles away. His lawyer filed suit on Monday.
The borough has started the process of firing Kessler over the videos. A hearing on his termination was underway in Gilberton last October when it was halted abruptly after a handgun belonging to one of the chief's supporters dropped to the floor.
Gilberton wants to hold the rescheduled hearing at the Lackawanna County Courthouse in Scranton. Kessler is objecting, saying it's too much of an inconvenience for himself and the witnesses he wants to call.
