Pa. Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing 11 High-end Chain Saws

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges that he stole 11 high-end chain saws from at least two businesses since November.

Police in Richland Township, Cambria County, say 29-year-old Jeff Weible, of Stoystown, acknowledged breaking into West Central Equipment shortly before they stopped his vehicle — which allegedly had four saws in it — about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the building's parking lot.

Police say Weible acknowledged burglarizing the store on one other occasion and to stealing saws from another store in neighboring Somerset County, where he lives.

Township Detective Thomas Keirn says the chain saws are worth from $800 to $1,200 each and are heavy-duty devices, saying, "You'd need a lumberjack to lift them."

Online court records don't list an attorney for Weible who faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 15.
