Standoff At Trenton Building Ends Without Incident
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A standoff involving a man who allegedly held a young girl hostage inside a Trenton apartment for several hours has ended without incident.
No injuries were reported in the standoff at the Coolidge Avenue building, which started shortly after 5 a.m. Monday and lasted for about four hours. Authorities say a 3-year-old girl was in the apartment throughout the standoff, but her mother and 1-year-old brother had safely escaped the unit.
It was not clear what sparked the standoff or whether there was a relationship between the man and any of the victims. The woman and the two children were taken to a hospital to be evaluated, but appeared to be unharmed.
The man's name was not disclosed. He was taken into custody at the scene, and charges are pending.
