Christmas Grinches Strike In Chester County

By Steve Beck

EAST PIKELAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in one Chester County town are searching for two Grinches who decided to take advantage of generous acts this holiday season.

The East Pikeland Township Police Department is investigating two incidents of theft and are also warning residents to be alert and be on the lookout for thieves that take advantage of generosity.

The crimes both happened on December 18th.

The first crime happened in the 100 block of Brimful Drive. The owner of a home on the block observed a female get out of a car, take tip money that was secured to the top of the trash can that was intended for the trash collector and drive away. The suspect is described as a white female in a white Chevy pickup truck.

The second theft happened later in the day in the unit block of Winslow Drive. Police say a suspect went into a mailbox, stole a gift card worth $50 and put the card back into the mailbox.

The East Pikeland Police Department is encouraging residents who tip their trash collectors and others to personally give the gift to them so it is not stolen.

Anyone with information on the above crimes is urged to contact the East Pikeland Police Department.
