Arrest Made In Burglaries Of Multiple Center City Restaurants

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into, and robbing, at least four Center City restaurants  this month.

56-year-old Keith McClary is charged with burglary and related offenses. Police say he lives in the southwest neighborhood of Center City where four smash-and-grab burglaries were reported between December 1st and December 9th, beginning with the Palm Tree Gourmet near 20th and Pine Streets, and including Omega Pizza and Honey's Restaurant in the 2100 block of South Street, and Gavin's Cafe near 25th and Pine Streets.

Police say surveillance video from two of the burglaries show a man using a brick to break through glass doors on the restaurants, then removing cash from the registers before fleeing.

Authorities arrested McClary near 19th and Pine Streets Saturday night based on his resemblance to the man in the video. Police say a later search of his apartment turned up a jacket like the one worn by the burglar in the video.
