Officer's Stolen SUV, With Gun Inside, Recovered In Germantown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police believe they have recovered an SUV that was stolen from outside the home of an off-duty officer in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday night. The vehicle contained the officer's service weapon and his uniform.
According to investigators, the incident began at about 10 p.m. when a suspect stole a Ford Escape from outside the officer's home in the 900 block of Longshore Avenue.
The suspect remained on the loose until a woman called 911 to tell them a car matching the description in the 2100 block of Medary Avenue in Germantown.
After crashing, the unidentified suspect got out of the car and ran away.
Authorities say the officer's service weapon, as well as his ID, badge and handcuffs were all found in the car.
The search is ongoing for the suspect.
