By Jim Donovan: Two months after the start of open enrollment, The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) has left many people wondering how the law will impact them. In an effort to help individuals and families understand their coverage options, Clarifi's FinanciallyHers program and WOMEN'S WAY are holding a special Affordable Care Act event on December 14:
The Affordable Care Act: What it Means for You and Your Wallet

The free event will share the most up-to-date information on The Affordable Care Act and include the following topics:
• Why having health insurance is important
• The basics of budgeting out health care costs
• Factors to consider when choosing a health insurance plan
• How the Affordable Care Act changes the way we shop for health insurance
• How to take the next step and get covered
Event speakers will include Jim Donovan, Consumer Reporter for CBS3/The CW Philly, Emily Wyner, Advocacy & Outreach Coordinator for WOMEN'S WAY, Tiffany W. Thurman, Program Manager for FinanciallyHers, and health care experts from Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) and Resources for Human Development (RHD).
"We know that women in particular want to know how to get the best coverage for themselves and their families, so it's critical that they have the information they need," says Markita Morris-Louis, Vice President of Community Affairs for Clarifi. "Additionally, we realize that health care may be a new expense for some people, so we also want to provide them with strategies to budget for it."
Representatives from Resources for Human Development will also be available to help attendees start the enrollment process for health care. December 23rd is the new deadline for people to enroll if they want insurance by January 1st. The last day to enroll for coverage without facing a penalty is March 31st.
