Police: Pennsylvania Man Killed Mom, 85, To Buy Crack

CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he fatally stabbed his 85-year-old mother so he could take her money to buy crack cocaine.

Carlisle police say a tipster called them Tuesday afternoon to say that 54-year-old Paul Tolbert was "planning a violent act."

By the time officers arrived about 1:40 p.m. they say they found Mary Tolbert dead in an apartment, and her son cleaning the area with a mop and bucket. A woman at the scene, 49-year-old Alison Green, is charged with helping Tolbert move the dead body.

Online court records don't list an attorney for the defendants who remained in the Cumberland County Jail on Wednesday.

Police say they're testing Paul Tolbert's blood to determine whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time.
