PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Deck the halls already! Lots of local arboretums have Christmas greenery sales this time of year where you can get not only holly, pine, spruce, magnolia and other boughs of evergreens, but also berries and accents like pretty seed pods to make decorations – all while giving the gardens a gift by supporting their sale.

Coming up this weekend are just two such holiday events, both Saturday, December 7, starting at 10 am.

The sale at the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College runs until 2 pm; become a member and get a free bag of greens.

Bartram’s Garden’s sale runs a little later, until 4 pm on Saturday – or you can join to go early and get first pick at their Member’s Preview, Friday evening from 4 to 7 pm.

Both sales also feature fabulously fresh pre-made wreaths (much prettier than anything I’ve ever created). And, there will also be lots of smart garden elves on-hand to give you courage and tips about how to craft one yourself too.
