City Of Philadelphia Gives Shoppers A Holiday Gift

By Robin Culverwell

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you're trying to plan your holiday errands, the City of Philadelphia has a gift for you again this year: free Saturday parking at meters city wide at 11 a.m. starting tomorrow.

It's a holiday tradition that goes back several years as a way to bring shoppers into the city.

Several people among the crowds in Old City on Friday love the idea.

"It's a great idea," one person said.

"Yeah, it would make making plans on a Saturday – going out to dinner in the city – a lot easier," agreed another.

Other parking rules will be enforced on Saturdays.

And FYI, meters in Center City are free every Wednesday after 5 p.m.
