1 Severly Injured In Camden County House Fire

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) - One man was taken to the hospital following a fire that broke out at a house in Pennsauken Township, Camden County Sunday afternoon.

This happened just before 4 p.m.at the home located on the 3700 block of Drexel Avenue.

Officials say the victim, whose name has not yet been released, had to jump from his bedroom window to escape the flames. He was rushed to Cooper Hospital with severe injuries.

"When the fire department units arrived, we had fire showing from the rear of the dwelling, and a male occupant of the home that jumped out of a first floor bedroom window and was on the front lawn with severe burns," Chief Joe Palumbo with the Pennsauken Fire Department said.

Fire officials say they aren't sure what started the blaze, but they had it under control in about 20 minutes.

The victim has been transferred to Crozer Burn Center, and remains hospitalized at this time.
