Two Army Soldiers Sent To Phillies Spring Training, Phantasy Camp On WIP Morning Show

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Former Pennsylvania Governor and former Philadelphia mayor Ed Rendell (Phillies Phantasy Camp General Manager), former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene (one of many Phillies legends who attend each year), Chris Landofsky (Phantasy Camp Executive) and John Brazer (Phillies Director of Fun and Games) were all in studio during the WIP Morning Show Wednesday morning.

Additionally, two soldiers from the Army, Reed Preece and Brian O'Donnell, were in the studio for what they thought was a "visit". Both Preece and O'Donnell have earned an extensive list of awards, including a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart.

Preece and O'Donnell believed they were coming to simply tour the Phillies radio flagship station, 94.1 WIP-FM, sit in and observe Rendell, Greene, Angelo Cataldi and the WIP Morning Show on the air. However, once they arrived in the studio, Cataldi surprised them by telling Preece he will be headed to Phantasy Camp and telling O'Donnell he will be headed to Spring Training, thanking them for their service.

Thanks to the help of Sgt Matthew Giacobbe, the two soldiers were given this real-time surprise of a lifetime with an offer for one to attend this year's Phantasy Camp and one to attend Spring Training all courtesy of ESF, the Phillies and the Liberty USO.
