Woman Sexually Assaulted, Attacked In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for a rapist who attacked a woman in Center City late last week.

The incident happened near 13th and Chestnut Streets on November 14th.

The 29-year-old female victim recently moved to the city. She was at a bar with some friends and stepped out to put money in her parking meter when the suspect attacked her from behind.

After knocking her to the ground, the suspect physically and sexually assaulted her.

After the brutal assault, she saw two males leave the area.

"That male only said one word, 'hey,' and as she turned, he grabbed her and then the assault occurred. She also describes an unknown tattoo on his neck, as well as a chain with a cross on it," Lt. Anthony McFadden explained.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 30s, with long braided hair. He also may have a dark tattoo on his neck.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.
