Papa John's Pizza Delivery Driver Beaten, Robbed In Delaware

LEWES, Del. (CBS) -- Police are searching for three suspects who assaulted and robbed a pizza delivery driver in Delaware.

The incident happened at about 9:35 p.m. Monday on Ocean Ranch Drive in Lewes, Delaware.

According to investigators, a Papa John's delivery driver told police he was making a delivery to a home in Henlopen Landing that had a "For Sale" sign in the front yard.

The driver told police as he approached the front door and rang the doorbell, he observed three males running toward him.

The driver turned and attempted to flee as one of the males grabbed him and threw him to the ground. The suspect then began punching the victim in the head, while one of the other suspects began rifling through his pockets and removed his wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash and his cell phone.

The suspects then ran away from the scene with the cash, cell phone and the pizza.

The victim was slightly injured, but did not require immediate medical attention.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, 5'10-6'2", with a thin build, wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, 5'10-6'0", with a thin build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

A description of the third suspect was not released.
