PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Retired and bored?  Become a Romeo and find some getaway opportunities!

"ROMEO" is Retired Old Men Eating Out.  Romeo groups are springing up all over the country.

.

In some, members have a common interest. I belong to two:  local US Coast Guard veterans, and retired broadcasters.

Others just share the same community and an interest in meeting people to schmooze over lunch.

.

Bob Dell, who organized the Coast Guard group, recalls a recent Romeo weekend getaway.

.

"We went to Cape May and did a tour of the base," he says, referring to the US Coast Guard Training Center.  Most of us had gone to boot camp there.

Ask around among retired friends -- or start a group of your own.  That's what Bob Dell did.

"I put an ad in a local paper and I started getting some replies," he recalls.  From there it was word-of-mouth.

ROMEO groups provide great camaraderie, hours of compelling yarns, and usually a pretty good lunch.   Delaware Valley area Coast Guard veterans can contact Bob at rbard1@verizon.net.
