Two Informational College Fairs Are Being Held In Philadelphia This Week

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More than 400 colleges and universities will send representatives to a National College Fair at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Sunday. And for adults interested in going back to school, there's a local college fair in Center City tonight.

The non-profit Graduate!Philadelphia is hosting more than a dozen local colleges at its 1211 Chestnut St. office so adults thinking about going back to college can learn about their options.

Co-founder David Thornburgh says it's an important service.

"Returning to college can seem like a real mystery, a tortured path," he said.

Advisors will review transcripts and answer questions from 10 till 4, then at 5:30 there's a workshop on preparing and paying for a degree. Traditional students can get admission tips, financial aid advice and a sense of campus life at schools from around the country at the National College Fair Sunday.

"Instead of parents and students having to travel miles and miles, airfare and gas, all of these institutions will be in their back yard," director Greg Ferguson said.

The National College Fair runs from 11 to 3 and is free.
