Traffic Stop Leads To Firearm And Marijuana Seizure In New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS)--New Castle County Police have arrested 19-year-old Samuel Miller, of Bear, DE. He has been charged with drug and weapons offenses, after police initiated a car stop and found Miller to be in possession of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

New Castle Officers were initially dispatched to the 200 block of Hetherton Lane, in the community of Wilton Club Apartments, after reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The officers observed a white Lexus SUV parked on Hetherton Lane, they then made contact with the driver, Samuel Miller.

Upon contact, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from his car. A search of his vehicle yielded .82 grams of marijuana and a loaded .22 caliber handgun.

Miller was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and possession of marijuana.

Miller was arraigned and committed to a correctional institute in lieu of $10,500 bail.
