Area Politicians Concerned About Next Year's Outlook

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--On the political beat, some area politicians are concerned about the outlook next year.

No political seat is considered a safe seat. That's the message being conveyed by area Republican leaders to moderate regional congressman Jon Runyan, Pat Meehan, Mike Fitzpatrick and Jim Gerlach.

All four are dramatically stepping up their fundraising efforts with the sense that the government shutdown along with the debt deadline is being blamed more on Republicans.

All four politicians along with Congressman Frank LoBiondo fought hard to break the tea party inspired deadlock.

In the Governor's race, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz got a boost when she was endorsed by Philadelphia Democratic party chairman Bob Brady.

Representatives for the other Democrats in the race point out that it is only Brady's endorsement and not the nod of the entire party.

Brady has historically backed candidates who represent Philadelphia and Schwartz's district encompasses a large portion of Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
