Prime Time Spotlight For Delaware Valley College Football

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It is a rare Friday night kick-off for the Division III Delaware Valley College Aggies as they visit FDU-Florham in Middle Atlantic Conference action.

The Aggies are 4-1 this season and coming off a nicely placed bye week.

"Coming in the middle of the season was good," Del Val head coach Jim Clements tells KYW Newsradio. "Obviously you wanted to go into the bye after a win and having our season in our own hands, but that wasn't the case. We lost a tough one up at Lycoming (19-16 on 10/5) and (the bye) really gave us some time to refocus, get ready for FDU and work back on the fundamentals and try to get ready for the second half of the season."

The Aggies are one of four teams with just one conference loss, and Clements says he is pretty pleased with their progress this season. But . . .

"I think we still have a long way to go," Clements says. "I think we've gotten better every week. When you look at the wins and losses, if you would have told me we'd be 4-1 after the bye, I'd be excited about that because we've played some pretty good football teams here early in the year. We've got a lot of good football teams to play yet, but we've gotten better."

Jim Clements Interview

FDU-Florham has struggled this season to the tune of a 1-4 record. They have allowed at least 52 points in their four losses, but Clements says they can make some things happen when they have the football.

"They have a lot of explosive plays," Clements says. "They score points. It seems like a lot of their touchdowns come off of 25+ yard plays. So we've got to eliminate the big play."

The Aggies and FDU-Florham kick-off at 7:00pm on Friday night.
