Juvenile Escapee Sought In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS)—The search is on for a 17-year-old from Wilmington who escaped from a transport van while it was stopped at the New Castle County Detention Center on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 5:10 p.m. when a van transporting Ja'Keem Broomer arrived at the New Castle County Detention Center.

Broomer, who was being held in pre-trial detention at a Milford facility, had just attended a hearing at the New Castle County Courthouse. When the van arrived at the Detention Center to pick up another juvenile who would also be transported to the Milford facility, Broomer fled.

Broomer is a Black male, approximately 5'6" tall, and weighs 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black wind breaker, a dark color long-sleeve shirt, and dark pants.

Detectives have obtained a warrant for Broomer's arrest on the charge of escape third degree.
