New Camden County Program Pairs Vets With Shelter Animals, Free Of Charge

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – Camden County veterans searching for a pet have a new option.

It's called Pets4Vets, and it provides shelter animals to veterans free of charge.

A project of the Camden County Freeholder Board and the Camden County Animal Shelter, the new program is open to all active military, reservists or veterans who provide valid military ID.

"This program is a small thank you to our veterans who have selflessly served our country," said Freeholder Deputy Director Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs. "This program will provide our men and women in uniform with companions from the shelter that will supply unconditional love to the most valued members of our society."

The Camden County Animal Shelter is located at 125 County House Road in Blackwood. For more information, visit: www.ccasnj.org
