Alex's Lemonade Stand Honored For Achievements In Marketing

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is being recognized for its achievements in marketing.

The organization is being honored with an award usually given to for-profit companies.

Alex's Lemonade Stand is a non-profit that raises money to help kids with cancer and Saint Joseph's student chapter of the American Marketing Association is honoring them with its Marketer of the Year award.

Maura Daddario President of The AMA at St. Josephs says Alex's online component really sets their marketing apart from other organizations.

"Their website is really interactive, I think it really engages any participants or donors. They have everything set up in a great layout. It makes it very easy for anyone who's interested to get any information and get involved in any way possible."

Liz Scott, the co-executive director of Alex's Lemonade Stand, says they face some unique challenges and opportunities in their marketing campaigns.

"Research can seem a little less personal than some other causes but what we are really doing is raising money to help kids get cured. I mean, what's more important than that?

In years past, the award has been won by the Phillies, Steven Starr and Sharon Pinkenson, the executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
