Organizers Make Final Preparations Ahead Of Old City Seaport Festival This Weekend

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Old City Seaport Festival is taking place this weekend. Organizers are promising a family-friendly few days of tall ships, fine food and even a pirate battle.

Seven tall ships in the Delaware, Nine food trucks, 40 craft vendors and more. It's the second annual Old City Seaport Festival at the Independence Seaport Museum.

"This is the perfect family event. This is definitely, roundup the kids, bring them on down, tour some tall ships, maybe even go out on one," Museum CEO and President John Brady said.

The event kicks off with a parade of boats Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday are the festival days, the highlight Saturday evening, a pirate battle for all to see.

"All the boats get on their way, go out in the river. They all have cannons of one sort or another and they start engaging each other in a very large and seemingly chaotic battle."

Tickets also get you admission to the museum. For more information, visit http://www.phillyseaport.org/seaportfestival
