Police ID Suspect In Vicious Germantown Assault On Blind Man

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Police Department has identified a suspect wanted in connection with the brutal assault of a blind man that was caught on tape.

The search is on for 29-year-old Mustafa Guyton, of Germantown. Police say he is the man caught on camera attacking the victim.

On October 2nd, at approximately noon, a Philadelphia Police Department camera on the corner of Wayne Avenue and Seymour Street captured the assault.

NEW SURVEILLANCE VIDEO:

The victim was walking east on Seymour Street toward Wayne Avenue. The suspect, who was standing on the corner, appears to look down the street as the victim approaches.

When the 33-year-old blind male approaches the corner, the suspect strikes him, knocking him to the ground and then kicking, punching, and stomping on him, causing multiple injuries to his face and head as he lay helpless on the ground.

After the vicious assault, the attacker left the area, south on Wayne Avenue from Seymour Street.

Police say if you see the suspect, do not approach him but contact 911 immediately.
