Lehigh Valley IronPigs Urinal Games Take Home The Gold

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – When the Lehigh Valley IronPigs introduced their urinal gaming at the mens restrooms at Coca-Cola Park, there were adjectives used to describe the games. They can now add "award-winning" to the list.

The IronPigs won the "Golden Bobblehead" award for the best in-game promotion at a minor league baseball stadium this year. The Golden Bobbleheads are awards given out by the MiLB annually. Their competition included Bobby Knight Musical Chairs with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, Storm Wars Mini-Movie at the Lake Elsinore Storm, Pork Center with the IronPigs, and the Owlz Eye Glasses with the Orem Owlz. The awards were handed out last week in Louisville, Kentucky.

"We knew these games would create a huge splash but we never could have imagined the amazing amount of recognition these games have received," said IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes in a statement. "This publicity has allowed us to spread an important message to our fans about prostate cancer awareness, which is the second leading cause of cancer death in America, with our partner Lehigh Valley Health Network."

No stranger to out-of-the-box promotions, the IronPigs also gave away a free funeral to a fan earlier this season.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are the Triple A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
