Mother Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Roosevelt Boulevard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A mother is dead after a driver going the wrong way on Roosevelt Boulevard slammed into her family's minivan early Sunday morning.

Accident investigators are working to find out if a 23-year-old woman was under the influence when she was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of the Boulevard near Cottman at about 2:30 a.m.

Authorities say her Buick collided with a minivan, driven by a 33-year-old man. His wife, 36-year-old Alesha Taylor and three-year-old daughter were passengers. All three were rushed to the hospital.

The father has a broken femur and was listed in critical but stable condition. The daughter suffered minor injuries. Authorities initially thought the mother suffered minor injuries, but she was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident with a lacerated liver.

The driver of the Buick and her passenger were hosptialized with non-life threatening injuries.

No identities have been released.

The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
