The Local Impact Of A Federal Government Shutdown
By Larry Kane
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's a week away and there seems no solution yet to a possible shutdown of the federal government.
That the impasse could have serious local impact.
Right now it's a game of chicken again.
The Republican House passing an extension of the deficit with a proposal to clip funds for Obama care.
The Democratic senate will Nullify that and the White House is standing firm.
All regional Republican congressmen are voting in favor of the House bill.
If the government defaults and takes with it vital services and a market meltdown, these lawmakers could face Democratic opposition.
The Democratic incumbents here are all in safe seats, so the blame game might not affect them.
But there is another potential worry around here.
Any negative news based on Tea party action could influence Governor Tom Corbett's challenging re-election bid.
