Annual Directory Of After-School Activities Now Available

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With the start of the school year, comes a just-released list of after-school activities.

With thousands of Philadelphia students going to new schools this year and funds for extracurricular activities slashed, the folks at the After School Activities Partnerships say their new directory may be needed now more than ever. It's a list of 880 activities at schools, libraries and recreation centers organized by zipcode.

"It's everything from tutoring help, homework help, to enrichment programs," says ASAP executive director Justin Ennis, "like chess, debate, drama programs, dance programs, physical fitness programs, ethnic and cultural programs, horticultural programs. Really the entire spectrum."

Some programs have fees, but many are free.
