Ocean County Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Neighbor With Samurai Sword

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – A man whose apartment apparently reeked of urine and feces was arrested after he threatened a complaining neighbor with a samurai sword.

According to the Brick Township Police Department, officers first responded to the home of John Jandola, 35, of Brick, on Sept. 1st due to complaints about a foul odor emanating from his apartment.

Jandola told police the odor, which smelled of feces and urine, was caused by his dog, and he agreed to clean it up.

But on Sept. 2nd, the original complainant began knocking on Jandola's door because the odor was still present.

Police say Jandola then opened the door holding a samurai sword. According to the victim, Jandola held the sword to his/her throat while making threats before pushing the victim.

Following an investigation, Jandola was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, and Simple Assault. His bail was set at $30,000.

Police were able to recover the sword.
