PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Northeast Philadelphia bar at knifepoint earlier this week.

The incident happened at about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday at the Castor Bar located in the 6600 block of Castor Avenue in the city’s Oxford Circle section.

Surveillance video captured the suspect entering the bar and initially pulling out a handgun. The suspect then put the gun away and asked a female bar employee to use the bathroom.

When the suspect exited the bathroom, he pulled out a knife and demanded money from the employee. The suspect then attacked the employee and pushed her out of the way before opening the cash register and taking an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect then ran out of the bar and fled north on Castor Avenue then east on Unruh Street.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 30 years-of-age, with red/auburn crew cut hair. He was wearing a gray fleece pull over hooded shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
