Website Names Chester County Brewing Company 'Best Brewpub In America'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The folks at Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown are celebrating after being named the best brewpub in America by RateBeer.com.
It's mid-day on a Monday and the cavernous bar and dining room is hopping. A multimillion dollar renovation in 2008 has turned what once was a modest regional brewery into a destination point for beer lovers.
Patrons can get fresh pints of the breweries signature beers like Hop Devil and Golden Monkey, but they also have access to more than 30 other selections including some that are impossible to find elsewhere.
"It's really the beer that has carried the weight of its organization," said Matt Krueger, Victory's Vice President of Retail Operations.
Ratebeer.com also cited the brewpub for its original brewery burger and hot wings, but Krueger adds that 95 percent of the food there is made from scratch.
"We make our own ice cream, potato chips, pretzels, pickles, salad dressing, sauces. We have a barbecue smoker. You know, there's something for everybody if you're in for an awesome beer and a tasty meal," said Krueger.
The award comes as Victory embarks on a plan to build a second brewpub, this one in Kennett Square.
