Study Shows Cowboys Fans Are Best In NFL, Eagles 17th
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you ask an Eagles fan to describe a Cowboys fan in one word, and you eliminated all options that include profanity, "bandwagon" is probably one you'd hear quite a bit. As it turns out, Cowboys fans might be the best fans the NFL has to offer.
According to a study of NFL fanbases at Emory University, the Dallas Cowboys have the best fans in the NFL, followed by the Patriots, Jets, Saints and Giants.
To find Eagles fans on the list, you'll have to scroll down further, and further, and further, until you reach #17, right behind the Houston Texans.
"The key idea is that we look at team box office revenues relative to team on-field success, market population, stadium capacity, median income and other factors," the study notes. "The first step in our procedure involves the creation of a statistical model that predicts box office revenue as a function of the aforementioned variables."
While the Cowboys have the best fanbase currently, it's the Patriots who have the strongest fanbase over the last decade, followed by the Redskins, Chiefs, Broncos and Steelers.
