Lesley's Last Word: Charlie Manuel Wins His 1000th Game

By Lesley Van Arsdall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Charlie Manuel got his 1000th win Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Cole Hamels gave him the win, pitching a complete game to give the Phils a 5-1 victory over the Braves.

It's been a long time since we even talked about the Phillies winning on the road (their last road win was July 19th, but who's counting).

Charlie is the 59th member of the club and one of eight still managing. This looks like it will be his last season with the team.

Yes this was a very disappointing season, but I think Charlie did the best he could with what he had.

During his time in Philly, he was able to hold that locker room together and when you think of all the big egos on that team, that is not an easy task.

So yes, he may not be back next year, but he can hold his head high as one of the best managers this team has ever had.
