MERCER COUNTY, NJ (CBS) – There are lane closures and major delays on the New Jersey Turnpike following an accident involving a pick-up truck and a box truck.

Police say the two vehicles collided around 1 p.m. on the northbound side of the road just south of Interchange 7A – I-195 in Hamilton Township.

One person was taken to Helene Fuld Medical Center with a head injury. That person is in serious condition.

There is no word on any other injuries, but both sides of the roadway are experiencing traffic backups and diversions.

The northbound lanes are closed in that area, and signs are directing northbound traffic to exit at Int.4 in Mount Laurel to avoid delays.
