National Poll Finds Gov. Christie A Political Favorite Among Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS) – New Jersey Governor Chris Christie continues to be a political favorite among Americans, and even remains hot among Democrats.

The Quinnipiac University Thermometer of voter attitudes has Christie at 53.1 on the polling "thermometer" – higher than President Obama, who ranks 46.7 degrees.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton came in at number two, with 52.1 degrees, and surprisingly, newly-elected Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren came in third with 49.2 degrees.

And Gov. Christie is still "hot" with Democrats, scoring a 53.2 on the thermometer, as well as with Independents, who gave him a 50.6.

Interestingly, while Christie scored a 59.8 with Republican voters, he was actually the eighth favorite on that party's list.

Sen. Rand Paul, of Wisconsin, is the Republican favorite, with a score of 68.7 degrees.

The results somewhat mirror those of a June Gallup poll, which revealed that 54% of Democrats supported the New Jersey governor. Christie came in ahead of Paul with Republicans in that poll, however.
