Animal Care And Control In Need Of Donations For New Dog Runs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A local nonprofit for shelter animals is reaching out to the public for help.

According to Philadoptables, which provides support for adoption, welfare and outreach programs that benefit the more than 32,000 animals received by Philadelphia Animal Control every year, the ACCT is in desperate need of new dog runs.

The shelter currently has three old runs and a new run that was built by Philadoptables last year, but the three old runs must be torn down and replaced due to safety concerns and three more runs need to be added.

While Philadoptables is using its emergency fund and will begin replacing and rebuilding the runs, the organization says it is in need of more money to fund the project and is asking for donations.

Money will be used for fencing, benches, trash receptacles and plastic swimming pools.

All donations are welcome, and those who donate as much as $2,000 will receive a plaque on display at the run, as well as a framed photo of the run being enjoyed by the dogs.
