PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As MLB’s trade deadline approaches, one name that appears to be completely out of every trade rumor is Phillies second baseman Chase Utley.
Utley and the Phillies are working on a two or three year contract extension, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The deal, which would either be two years, or two years with a vesting option for a third year, would be worth about $13 million per year.
