GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police have been searching for a phony three-man water company crew who stole $1,300 from an 84-year-old western Pennsylvania woman.

Police in Greensburg say the men came to the woman’s home about 1 p.m. Friday and told her they needed to test her water.

The men told the woman they were going to pay her $100 to use her water, but that they needed her to make change for them. They told the woman the test was needed to solve some unspecified problem with water in the area.

Instead, police say the men distracted the woman and took her to one part of her home while one of the men stole the money from her purse.
