Off-Duty Officer Killed In Motorcylce Crash In Burlington County

MOORESTOWN, N.J. (CBS) - Officials say an off-duty police officer and former Marine was killed in a motorcycle crash in Burlington County.

The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. Saturday along the 600 block of Westfield Road in Moorestown.

Officials in Cinnaminson Township announced on their Facebook page that Officer Craig Berner was killed in the crash.

Police say the 52-year-old traveling eastbound when he lost control and was ejected into the westbound lanes.

Authorities say Berner was then struck by a Ford F150, driven by 60-year-old William McGovern of Mount Laurel. Officials say McGovern is a Burlington County Prosecutor's Office detective. He was off-duty at the time of the crash.

Berner was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated by New Jersey State Police and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
