New Jersey Woman Will Attempt Delaware Bay Swim

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A New Jersey woman says she's going to attempt to swim 13.1 miles across the Delaware Bay.

The News Journal of Delaware reports Meghan Wren will begin her swim Aug. 3. Wren plans to begin on the Delaware side of the bay and swim over to the New Jersey side.

The swim is expected to take roughly eight hours. The 48-year-old says she wants to draw attention to the communities that were hurt by last year's Superstorm Sandy as well as the future of the bay. She also wants to raise $25,000 to spend on the bay's protection.
