Pa. Police Chief Stirs Furor Over Abrasive Videos

GILBERTON BOROUGH, Pa. (AP) -- The police chief of a small town in Pennsylvania's anthracite coal country who is trying to organize an armed, non-government group says he's a good-hearted man who loves his country and makes no apologies for posting online videos that boast confrontational, profanity-laced tirades punctuated by his firing of automatic weapons.

At one point, he screams, "come and get it!"

The chief, Mark Kessler of tiny Gilberton Borough, told The Associated Press Wednesday that he doesn't regret posting the videos.

He says he's speaking out for those who are afraid to do so over what they view as the erosion of the constitutionally protected rights to free speech and bear arms.

Gilberton Mayor Mary Lou Hannon says she finds the videos offensive, but says she supports Kessler's continued employment.
