Free Wednesday Lunchtime Concert Series Debuts in Center City
By Michelle Durham
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Now through August, those who work or visit center city Philadelphia can enjoy a free lunchtime concert every Wednesday.
The concerts, organized by the Center City District, are held in parks or public spaces.
Today, a spirited crowd braved the heat to enjoy the music at 17th and Market Streets.
It was a beach theme, with music provided by the band "Life's A Beach." And it turned out to be a family affair with the lead vocalist's 13-year-old daughter Sadie (right) stepping forward to wow the crowd with her vocals.
Afterward, she had a message for other kids trying to overcome their fears.
"I just want everyone to know, don't worry about what other people think of you. Just do what you need to do," she said.
Today's concert was accompanied by free water ice.
